2020 Overwatch Season Officially Launched

Posted on: Feb 11, 2020 By Isabelle in Tournaments,

Ten of the twenty Overwatch League teams played this weekend at events in New York City that were sold out both days, and Dallas which was also sold out. This terrific start to the 2020 Overwatch season brings the league’s city-based vision to life in front of packed crowds.

The New York Excelsior has hosted the Boston Uprising, London Spitfire, Paris Eternal and Toronto Defiant at the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan over the weekend. The Dallas Fuel hosted the Los Angeles Gladiators, Los Angeles Valiant, Vancouver Titans, and defending Overwatch League champions San Francisco Shock at Arlington Esports Stadium.

Overwatch League has planned a city-based model in which teams compete in their markets in front of their home fans, since 2018.

Fans not in New York or Dallas watched on YouTube, the exclusive streaming partner worldwide, excluding China, for Activision Blizzard Esports’ live broadcasts.

For the remaining North American teams, they will start their seasons in Philadelphia, home of the Fusion, next weekend.
