$6M Prize Pool for the 2019 Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Season

The Call of Duty World League (CWL) will feature a $6M prize pool for the 2019 season with significant format changes to the league also coming alongside the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

The Black Ops 4 season will see the World League switch to 5v5 action, adding one more player per side over the previous Call of Duty 4v4 competitive standard. Developer Treyarch’s futuristic game also represents a thematic shift from the historical setting of last year’s Call of Duty: WWII, which was developed by Sledgehammer Games. The WWII season awarded $4.2M in total.

Pro League will kick off in February 2019, and it will feature a new single-stage format with a single championship, rather than splitting the season into two halves as in previous years. The 12-week season includes inter-divisional play between two divisions. In previous years, teams could only select from specific regions to fill out their teams, but for the 2019 season, rosters will no longer be limited by region for LAN events. The CWL Pro League will also implement additional roster change periods during the season.

The former CWL Pro League Playoffs will now be called the CWL Finals, and will be a dedicated event like the other major live tournaments on the CWL calendar. The CWL Finals will take place before the Call of Duty World League Championship, which ultimately crowns the overall winner of the Black Ops 4 season.
