The USAP (Union Sportive des Arlequins Perpignanais), the French rugby club, becomes the first rugby club to embark on eSports. French rugby seeks to build a competitive team on Fortnite. Promoted in Top 14, the USAP has the firm intention to stay in the elite of rugby tricolor.

The USAP, which seeks to diversify its activities and develop its digital community by reaching a new target of fans (the Millenials), becomes the first rugby club in the world to embark on eSports. The USAP does not want to miss the eSports train, an industry that “will generate more than $ 3 billion in revenue by 2020”. In a statement published on Monday, on its official website, the Catalan training club announced the creation of the eSport section within it.

Some of the players in USAP are sponsored and evolve within a team. Like the athletes, they train all day and are physically and mentally supervised to perform. And like in rugby, there are also transfers. Among the best-known games are Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, FIFA, League of Legends and more recently Overwatch and especially Fortnite. It is mainly on the latter that the USAP wishes to launch by mounting its team in partnership with NTWU, a Catalan start-up. It is no coincidence that the USAP has chosen the game developed by Epic Games since it has more than 150 million players in the world.  Recruitment is also launched since the club seeks manager/coach, two pro players and two semi-pro players.
