The USD 660,000 Esports Championship Series Season 6 Finals was held in in Arlington, Texas, USA, in the weekend.
Astralis’ ECS Season 6 Finals win came in a Grand Final against MiBR. Despite losing to the Brazilian and American roster 1-2 in the Group Stages, Astralis won 2-0 in the Finals to take the trophy. The win was worth USD 250,000 for Astralis, with MiBR pocketing USD 120,000 as the runner-up at the CS:GO tournament. In the title match, Astralis pulled out a win on Inferno, narrowly avoiding overtime. The second map, Overpass, went to double overtime.
MiBR established an early 7-3 lead in Overpass before Astralis cut the deficit to 8-7. MiBR then rolled to a 15-11 edge, setting up four game points to even the series. However, Astralis leveled the score at 15-15 to force overtime.
Astralis eventually won in the second OT. Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, a 23-year-old Dane who posted a team-best 1.19 rating for Astralis, was selected the tournament’s most valuable player. He previously was the MVP of the ECS Season 2 and 5 finals. Astralis’ all-Danish roster consisted of dev1ce, Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, Andreas “Xyp9x” Hojsleth and Emil “Magisk” Reif.
