The Overwatch League’s Philadelphia Fusion will build a USD 50 million esports arena to host its matches and is expected to be playing in the new building by early 2021. Comcast, which owns the Philadelphia Fusion, plans to start building this summer.

The Fusion Arena will be located in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, which is already home to the city’s NFL, NBA, NHL, and NCAA teams. The upcoming Fusion Arena will feature 3,500 seats making it the largest of its kind in the Western hemisphere.

The arena will feature 60,000 square feet, a 6,000 square foot public entry with 2,000 square feet of interactive media surface hovering 30 feet above them. As well as acting as the home venue for Philadelphia Fusion, the arena will also be suited towards hosting esports events and music concerts. It’s reported that Comcast Spectacor expects it to host around 120 events on an annual basis.
