The 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) that is taking place in the Philippines in 2019 has included esports as an official event. This has been announced by the Philippines South East Asian Games Organising Committee (PhilSGOC) in partnership with the Philippine Olympic Committee and Razer as the official esports partner.

The 2019 SEA Games, will be the 30th edition of the Southeast Asian Games, a multi-sport event which will be hosted by the Philippines from 30 November to 10 December 2019.

Only one game has been confirmed so far: Mobile Legends Bang Bang from Chinese publisher Moonton. A total of 6 games will be included, comprised of two mobile games, two PC games, and two console games.

Esports was included in the 2018 Asian Games but it wasn’t a medal event. After the inclusion of esports in the SEA Games, there’s a potential that it could be included as a sporting event at the upcoming 2024 Olympics in Paris.
