The Maltese Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation Silvio Schembri has launched Playcon; Malta’s first Games Development and Esports Expo.

Playcon is yet another new initiative that the secretariat is supporting to continue to innovate and propel the digital economy. This event will be an add-on to the Delta Summit and part of the Malta Tech Week. Playcon will not only be a showcase of games and esports, but it will also include education-related initiatives aimed to inform and educate children, young people and adults about these new emerging industries, and the exciting opportunities they hold.

Playcon will be held at the MFCC, Ta’ Qali, in Malta, from 3rd – 6th October as part of the Delta Summit, and will feature a day-long leadership summit and a game development and esports expo.

The event will be attended by both local and international esports businesses, with Italian organisation Qlash setting up an esports zone, and running two-day Fifa and Tekken bootcamps and tournaments.

Delta organisers say they are expecting over 8,000 attendees to visit the 3,000 sqm exhibition space that will welcome 150 participating companies, 180 speakers and 250 journalists.
