Mobile Premier League (MPL) is one of the most popular skill-based mobile gaming platform in India, launched in September 2018. MPL is an app-based platform that allows fans to compete in skill-based sports and win real awards. Users can download the app via the Google Play store, App store and the MPL website.

MPL was founded by Sai Srinivas Kiran G and Shubham Malhotra last September. The company has already notched up 10 million users and is being called the country’s fastest-growing esports platform. It is the number one app in the ‘Casual’ category of Google Play Store in India. With 25 million installs already, it is also the fastest growing app in the country.

MPL recently raised USD 35,5 million in its Series A funding round led by Sequoia Capital, Times Internet and GoVentures, the investment arm of Go-Jek. The goal is to build India’s largest Mobile esports Platform which is accessible to all. MPL today provides users access to all formats and types of competitive games.

The appetite for gaming in India is increasing and the proof of this is the growing number of game developing companies in the country, which has risen from 25 in 2010 to 250 in 2018, according to a recent Forbes report. The report also pegs India’s gaming industry at USD 890 million and expects the mobile games market to be worth USD 1 billion by 2020.
