This weekend, Astralis became champions once again in the international CS:GO scene, and this time around, their tournament win came at BLAST Pro Series Istanbul. The Danish side breezed through the $250,000 event without a single map loss, defeating Virtus Pro, Space Soldiers, Cloud9, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and MIBR in the process. Astralis went 5-0 in the round robin group stage matches, which put them up against MIBR in the grand finals of the two-day event.

ESL One New York was everything a Major Grand final should be. It was a contest between two almost evenly matched teams and the series itself was as thrilling as a final could be. The Grand finals saw Mousesports and Team Liquid match up against each other in a Best of Five series.

The final was taken all the way to the fifth and final map. The match seemed to end at Liquid’s advantage already on the fourth card but Mousesports faced a comeback and managed to reach 2-2. At the crucial Mirage, Mousesports ruled the game. When Chris “ChrisJ” de Jong, with one of the most beautiful aces of the year, took the team to match points, it was as close to winning the game the team could get. In the following round, Mousesports took home a long-awaited title – they became the champions of ESL One New York.
