Rocket League‘s growing esports scene has announced that the tournament of Season 6 of the Rocket League Championship Series will double last season’s total prize pool for both the main league and the secondary Rival Series league. The tournament of Season 6 of the Rocket League Championship Series will feature a $1M prize pool which doubles the last season’s total. The tournament begins with qualifiers in August. The lower-tier Rival Series will also double its prize pool to $100,000.
Both North America and Europe already have their eight respective teams ready for the RLCS, with two new NA squads (Allegiance and FlyQuest ) and one EU roster (formerly of Servette Geneva Esports) joining from last season’s Rival Series via the promotion tournament.
Four teams from each region remain in the Rival Series from last season, and Psyonix will hold open qualifiers throughout August to fill the other four spots in both NA and EU. The Rival Series play-in tournament on September 1-2 will determine which teams join the lower-tier league for season six. RLCS league play begins on September 8-9, while Rival Series league play kicks off the following week on September 14.
Teams from the Oceanic region also compete in the RLCS, but that region’s qualifiers, league play, and online playoffs are handled by Throwdown Esports, separate from the main RLCS format. Ultimately, the two top OCE teams join four teams each from NA and EU at the World Championship.
