Epic Games has announced that they will hold a Fortnite Secret Skirmish invitational event on February 14-15, with a USD 500,000 prize pool available for the LAN tournament.

The tournament will include two days of competition. The competitors themselves will be made up of players from the community that Epic has invited, including professional players and competitive streamers. It will also include players who performed particularly well during previous events and other Open Fortnite competitions.

According to Epic Games, the Secret Skirmish will serve as an opportunity to prepare its broadcast team for the Fortnite World Cup coming later in the year. The announcement also teases potential structural or gameplay twists, noting that the event will “explore additional… operations… during the two days of competition.”

The Secret Skirmish will be Fortnite‘s first major tournament of 2019, following an aggressive esports push in 2018. Everyone will be able to watch on Fortnite’s Twitch channel, just like with previous tournaments.
