2020 LCS Summer Split Begins on 13th of June

The 2020 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Summer Split will kick off on the 13th of June, and the LCS Academy League Summer Split will begin on the 12th of June. The news has been made public by Riot Games on the official LoL Esports website. Due to the global pandemic the 2020 LCS Summer Split will be played online until it is deemed safe by state officials to gather at the LCS studios in Los Angeles, CA.

For the first time since its inception in 2015, the Mid-Season Invitational has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead, all domestic leagues will be going straight into the next split.

The LCS will stick with the same schedule used in spring after the competition moved online. Four matches will take place on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, with the last two being played on Monday night. Weekend broadcasts will start at 1pm PT, and Monday LCS broadcasts will start at 5pm PT.

With the change in this split’s schedule, summer finals are set to be held on the 5th and 6th of September, but as of right now, there is no confirmation of where it will be played.
